About the Dorothy Nolan HSA

We are a volunteer-run organization made up of parents, caregivers, and school staff who work together to support our students, teachers, and school community throughout the year.

The HSA plays an important role in connecting families and the school by helping create meaningful experiences, supporting school initiatives, and providing opportunities for our community to come together. Through events, programs, and fundraising efforts, we work alongside Dorothy Nolan Elementary to help enhance the school experience for all students.

What is the HSA?

The Home & School Association serves as a partnership between families, educators, and school staff. We collaborate with the school to support activities, programs, and initiatives that enrich our students' experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Throughout the school year, the HSA helps organize and support a variety of events and programs, including family activities, educational opportunities, staff appreciation events, school traditions, and fundraising efforts that directly benefit Dorothy Nolan students.

How is the HSA Different from a PTA?

While the HSA may sound similar to a traditional Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), there are a few key differences that make our organization unique.

Most importantly, there are no membership fees or dues. Every family with a student at Dorothy Nolan is automatically a member of the HSA. We believe in an open and inclusive organization where all families are welcome and every voice matters.

Unlike a PTA, we are not affiliated with a national organization. This means 100% of the money we raise stays right here at Dorothy Nolan and goes directly toward supporting our students, teachers, and school community.

Because we are independent, we have the flexibility to focus on the needs and traditions of our own school. This allows us to create programs, events, and initiatives that reflect what makes Dorothy Nolan special.
